New York City might be one of the best places for music stores, and if you want a nice guitar it’s likely you’ll find it in one of the many guitar oriented stores around town.
MANHATTAN
Rudy’s Music SoHo
The Guitar Boutique, one of the finest music stores we ever visited. Rudy’s has a nice selection of many classic models of Gibson, Fender and Gretsch as well as a room with acoustic guitars. Moreover, it is something of a guitar museum with many D’Angelico and D’Aquisto, the Stradivarius of guitars, on display on their loft floor in the back of the store. It is probably an unique collection and a rare opportunity to see as many of these fine instruments in one place.

Sam Ash – (previously Manny’s Music)
Manny’s Music, The “original music superstore” opened in 1935 and is known for being the music store where all celebrities bought their instruments. For the musician, it’s well worth visiting with a friendly staff and great service! For those who are not interested in the instruments they can still entertain themselves browsing the signed pictures on the walls from all the celebrities who purchased their instruments here. Jimi Hendrix, Bill Clinton, Ramones, Madonna, Bill Cosby are just some of the names … Unfortunately, Mannys was sold to Sam Ash a few years ago and some of the store’s charm has faded, but the stock is still large.
