Sunday – a perfect day for the beach, if you are in the right place.
Many beaches are filled with visitors and families on Sundays, eating food, playing, bathing, sunbathing and socializing in general. Some beaches, just outside of the cities, you might get mostly to yourself and enjoy the tranquility as the waves gently rolling onto the beach.
Nice, France
City Beaches fill up quickly during Sundays. In Nice, local as well as tourist use the long beach along the famous Promenade des Anglais. If it’s a perfect day and you don’t want to leave the beach, there are plenty of beach restaurants that are open during the high season, as well as all restaurants and cafés that are up at the main street close to the beach.
Sperlonga, Italy
Between Rome and Naples lies beautiful Sperlonga. A beautiful little coastal town that gets packed during the Italian holiday periods, but is perhaps not as well known outside of Italy. Just two hours from Rome by bus, you can enjoy lazy days in the sun on a long stretch of sandy beach.
Punta Chullera, Andalusia, Spain
A small beach in southern Spain. On the small gravel road to the beach you can see the Rock of Gibraltar in the distance. The beach has a typical spanish beach restaurant; Chiringuito Sal & Sun is open during the high season. In high season it is full of life and people jumping down from the rocks into the water, out of season the beach is much calmer and it is seldom many people who visit.
Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
A visit to Rio is not complete without having enjoyed the beach life in large urban beaches of Copacabana or Ipanema.
Cancun, Mexico
If you are in Cancun, the hotel you stay at are guaranteed to offer a beach outside the windows. But the town also has a public beach that can feel much calmer; Playa Delfines. The sea can sometimes whip up waves, but the water is warm and comfortable if you get past the waves break.
Vancouver, Canada
Beautiful Vancouver offers not only winter sports but also lazy days at the beach during the summer season. An excellent way to get around town to try out several beaches is to rent a bike. The picture below shows Walkway bend of English Bay.
