Paradise island – a sandbank in the Indian Ocean, Tanzania

A Tanzanian sailboat took us northbound in the Zanzibar archipelago and stopped at an island of sand. For a few hours we got the sandbank in the Indian ocean to ourselves, among clear azure waters.

A Ngalawa, a traditional Tanzanian sailboat, took us from the northern tip of Pemba, heading northbound in the Zanzibar archipelago and stopped at a small island of sand that appears in the ocean only at low-tide.

For a few hours we got the sandbank in the Indian ocean to ourselves, among warm clear azure waters. It was a truly amazing experience. Within a few hours time, it would all be gone and not appear until next day.
