The small island of Curaçao, located between Aruba and Bonaire in the very south of the Caribbean, has become a popular destination for travelers, especially during the winter months of the Northern hemisphere when many flee the cold and darkness in favour of an island paradise with beautiful beaches and azure waters.
Curaçao is a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and that there are direct flights from Amsterdam.
Tourism is an important source of income for Curaçao, and the island’s tourist board is great at marketing the island.
It is difficult, verging on impossible, not to like about the island. The city of Willemstad has a large selection of nice and very good restaurants, shops and nice old neighbourhoods to stroll around in. The southern tip of the island has the largest number of nice hotels, but the finest beaches will be found on the north-west coast, you would need to rent a car and drive to these, which warmly recommended. It is easy to drive around the island and you also get the chance to see the lusher nature, small villages and beautiful landscape.
Curaçao has a great reputation among the Caribbean islands, and has in recent years gained a lot nomination and awards. Listed below are the most recent, and the list will surely increase.

There are many wonderful paradise-destinations around the world, and to be honest we would perhaps not put Curaçao on top of the list for some of the above awards, but it’s hard to argue that it is not worthy to be mentioned in all of these lists.
Two weeks on Curacao, read our travelogue where we also took the opportunity to visit the neighbouring island of Bonaire.
