VAT (sales tax)
In California, as in the rest of the U.S., all prices listed (price tags, menus etc) exclude VAT and is imposed on the purchase. The VAT rate is between 7.25% and 8.75% in different places of the state. There are exceptions affecting a number of products and services that are not subject to VAT, but they may still be subject to other taxes.
