New York is one of the crossroads of the world, where all kind of culture meets and live alongside. Manhattan got a never-ending offer on things to do; shopping, sightseeing, music, art… New York got something for everybody.

When to visit New York

New York is a year round destination. However, prices vary a lot depending on at what time of year you travel. Christmas and New Years is a often freezing cold, but a wonderful time to be in New York with all it’s decorations all over the city. Hotel prices are more expensive, however, the closer to New Year’s Eve you’ll get.

The other high season is the summer when prices on hotels go up. It’s a time of year that could get really hot in the city, but with easy access to beaches by train or subway and a lot of hotels offering nice pooldecks that’s quite nice.

Spring and autumn might be the most pleasant seasons to visit New York and that’s when you’ll find the best hotel deals on hotel rooms.

Getting around New York

The subway is the fastest way to get around in New York City, they usually beat the taxi that since a taxi risk getting stuck in traffic. The New York Bus network is well developed and also a good option.

The famous yellow taxis are easy to grab on the street. If you prefer to order a taxi by phone you could try the taxi company Big Apple: 718-232 10 15.

Business hours

Most stores are open:
Monday-Thursday 10 AM – 7 PM, Friday 10 AM – 8 PM.
Saturday 10 AM – 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM – 6 PM.
Several of the big department stores are open until 8 PM every night. Souvenir shops around Times Square are usually open very late at night.

Stores owned and operated by Jews might be closed on Saturdays, for example the huge and popular camera and audio store B & H.

Safety

Although New York has become a quite safe city you should pay attention, especially at late night, to any situation or person that seem a bit suspicious to you. And as always in cities; keep an eye on your belongings at all times.
