At the very south point of the US east coast lies a small island that can be regarded as the Caribbean United States. The main street, Duval Street, runs through the city center and offers both small cozy cafés, nice restaurants and shopping. At the end of Duval Street people meet up every evening to watch the sunset at the old Mallory Square. Key West and its most famous bar, Sloppy Joe’s, was an important part of Ernest Hemingway’s life and career, and you meet his legacy all over town.
Getting around Key West
The center of town is quite small and you can easily find your way around walking. If you would like to travel a bit longer distance, you could rent bikes which works fine.
Many restaurants and pubs are open very late. Even the shops along the Duval street are open till late at night.
